Combining comic book style and geeky in-jokes, HEROES is a stellar series that draws comparisons to fan favourites such as LOST and THE X-FILES. But thanks to its well-drawn characters and intricate plot, this drama reels in more than just superhero fans. HEROES revolves around the premise of seemingly ordinary people developing fantastic powers. There's Claire (Hayden Panettiere, ICE PRINCESS), a cheerleader who can't appear to be injured or killed. Matt (Greg Grunberg, ALIAS) is a cop who can read minds. New Yorker Peter (Milo Ventimiglia, ROCKY BALBOA) has the power to adopt other heroes' abilities, while his politician brother (Adrian Pasdar, JUDGING AMY) has a special power of his own. Though the show boasts many other characters, its secret weapon is Hiro (Masi Oka), a Japanese office worker who is delighted to discover he can move through space and time. Set four months after the end of series one, the second series of HEROES thrillingly builds on the previous events, introducing a variety of new characters including Honduran twins Maya (Dania Ramirez, THE SOPRANOS) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortez), the devious and lethal Elle (Kirsten Bell, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL), and Hiro's idol, Takezo Kensei (David Anders, ALIAS).

Has the impression of a filler

Green from , 1st September, 2008

Well, after the phenomenal (and i think deserved) success of Tim Kring's Heroes Series 1, Series 2 seeks to shed more light on The Company and some of the previously recurring character's history. Not only that, people are eager to see the result of the Series 1 part ending/part cliffhanger. Unfortunately, not all the answers are given straight away and you have to wait, which for a while builds up tension, but you can get tired of it easily. However, look out for the episode 'Four Months Ago' which fills in all the remaining blanks that haven't already been given in the series. The series is very good, but it lacks some of the delicate human charm of the first series, there are less new characters, so a few characters are simply seen to develop their powers beyond what we saw previously. There is less of an angle of human nature and reaction to the powers and it becomes more about learning to live with the inevitable threats that come with their gifts. Series 3, though (at least in the UK) right now it has only been breifly previewed, looks to be a much more exiciting and action-packed series than Series 2. Which makes this season feel very much like it's a gap-filler, a bridge between the first and third series, not only because of it's short length (Thank you very much American Writer's Guild) in comparison to before. A highly unexpected ending will make you itch for the next series, which further's my point. Don't get me wrong, this is an incredible series. If you're a die-hard fan who is looking to own the whole story, then buy it now. If you're looking to know the full story, then by all means rent it because you will need to know a few things and it is exciting.

Series 2 is good, a little slow at times.

Good start, poor finish

A Customer from Stockton-on-Tees, 15th January, 2009

The 2nd season seemed to start well, setting strong storylines and looking to fill in some gaps, but then it stutters and staggers and seems to just rush to a conclusion that makes you feel that it's just a filler until the writers strike was over and they could get going on the 3rd season. Also putting 1 episode on the final disc when it could have gone on the one before, what a waste, especially for anyone renting (like me). Heres hoping the 3rd season makes up for this and rescues what started out as a must watch drama but started to go stale in season 2.

Disappointing

A Customer from Chertsey, 30th September, 2009

Season 1 of Heroes got off to a great start: here at last was something truly different and which couldn't easily be pigeonholed. I found the ending a little bit of a let down, but I was prepared to forgive it in view of some of the great entertainment I'd had along the way. Season 2 promised more of the same, with everybody's favourite character, Hiro, stranded in ancient Japan in one of the more interesting sub-plots. Then when things are just getting in to their swing it suddenly fizzles out in the manner of a damp squib. I don't think I'll bother with season 3.
