Two desperate strangers are trapped on a Mumbai street one stormy night. One is Aman Kapoor, an investment banker, and the other is Chameli, a prostitute.

During the course of the night, the facades strip away and the professionals' true colours begin to surface. Chameli emerges as an exciting , childlike and often mischevious young woman with a smile that lights up the night, but whose desperate fears also force Aman to enter a world totally alien to him. And then what happens?...All one can say is that they connect.

Mumbai nightlife

Shalini from London, 3rd February, 2005

This story shows typical Mumbai nightlife. The characters are believeable especially Kareena and the police. Her acting is ecellent. This film is not your typical bollywood offering. Whilst this film is rated as 12 I think its only suitable for adults as it contains a lot of swearing in hindi (not translated in the english subtitles). The songs were nice and the dancing good.

A sleak look, but a dismal story...

JohnnyRoss from , 2nd January, 2005

The movie's look is very different; the songs are fantastic. Everything was going for this movie, even the cast (Kareena and Rahul at a first), and I was really excited. But the storyline is waferthin and unfolds at a deadly pace. The songs have been killed by being used as background scores or being totally left out at times. Kareena's performance is one to rate; Rahul is passable. Overall, this is a film only for a 'Kareena collection'... it's not one to look out for or get excited about... even though that may be how you feel before you watch the movie!

I do not know what was the director's plan and story for this movie. Nothing is there.

Mr Pritish Nandy should be penalised for allowing such movies to be made. A complete wastage of time and money

I would not recommend this film to anyone, it ust seemed to drag on a bit. I was a bit dissapointed as Kareena's films are normally good.

Not bad, a bit different. Thought Rahul Bose was excellent. Kareena was OK.

Different Bollywood stuff

A Customer from Bristol, 9th July, 2008

I rented Chameli because it has in its soundtack one of my favourite Bollywood songs, but I was surprised at the movie. Two people are forced to spend a night together during a heavy storm, one isa middle class man whose wife died in an accident, the other is Chameli, a low class prostitute. During the night they strike an akward friendship that sees them through weird and dangerous situations. Quite different from the avarage Bollywood film but loks a bit theatrical, as most of the movie takes place in the same location.
