Armed with his license to kill, James Bond (Agent 007) races to Russia in search of the stolen access codes for GoldenEye, an awesome space weapon that can fire a devastating electromagnetic pulse toward the Earth. However, Bond is up against an enemy who anticipates his every move: Alec Trevelyan, a.k.a. Agent 006, a mastermind motivated by years of simmering hatred. As Bond squares off against his former compatriot, he also battles Trevelyan's stunning ally, Xenia Onatopp, an assassin who uses pleasure as her ultimate weapon. When the horrifying extent of Trevelyan's plans is revealed, Bond must call upon his sharp wits and killer instincts in a deadly confrontation. From a destructive tank chase through the streets of St. Petersburg to the treacherous Cuban jungle, Bond finds himself playing a cat-and-mouse game to the finish.

Radio Times

When “M” says to James Bond, “I think you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur, a relic of the Cold War,” who can disagree? To ram home the point, “M” is played by a woman (Judi Dench) and a key scene is set in a Russian park that is now a dumping ground for statues of redundant communist heroes. However, Pierce Brosnan, on his first mission as 007, quickly establishes himself as the best Bond since Sean Connery and makes a fetish out of the old-fashioned values of loyalty and patriotism. There isn't a proper villain, but director Martin Campbell does provide a stunning chase between car and tank through the streets of St Petersburg. There are also splendid Bond girls, including Izabella Scorupco and feisty Famke Janssen, who kills by crushing her victims between her thighs.

Halliwell's Film Guide

The mixture much as before, except that the makers give a few nods and winks to the audience so that everyone is in on the joke of this suave agent saving the world yet again; the stunts are spectacular, Brosnan well conveys a slightly weary sophisticatio

I am not really a Bond or a Pierce Brosnan fan but this film wasn't bad.

Personally i think that Pierce's acting is so wooden you could get a plank of wood to do his part but he was alright in this film just as he was alright in Mars Attacks, although a completely different Genre.

Lots of action in this film, i especially like the Tank on the rampage scene.

I hated some of the characters, 006(The Traitor) boo hiss, what a swine.

I was clapping when that sniffeling Twerp Boris was killed, at last, he has to be the most annoying character in the film.

Other Characters were great, i loved Famke Janssen's Evil Cigar Smoking Xenia, what a gal, now thats what i call a Bond girl.

Well worth watching !!

my favourite bond film!

' Goldeneye' it has it all. Pierce
Brosnan's debut as 007 James Bond
sees him on mission to infiltrate the
whereabouts of General Arkavi Ouromov
who is working for an organization chief known only as JANUS named after the two faced roman god. swedish model turned actress Izabella Scorupco is in the movie as Natlaya Simonova who is russian computer programmer who witnesses terrible massacre. Dutch actress Famke Janssen [ X - Men,X- Men 2, I Spy] plays Xenia Onatopp the femme fatale of the movie and the best one since Fatimma Blush in unfofficial bond film ' Never Say Never Again' with
Sean Connery's 007. the film really is cool with Sean Bean [ Troy, Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring] as former MI6 agent: Alec Trevelyan. Robbie Coltrane is in the movie as russian gangster Valentino Zhukosky, Allan Cumming is Boris Grishenko this computer programmer and puzzle master who reminds me a bit of The Riddler from ' Batman Forever' this film really excells the series which is excellent anyways. must see from start to finish.

My favorite bond film. It's worth watching just for the race between the Aston Martin DB5 and the Ferrari 355.

The is plenty of action to keep you happy, some parts are a little far fetched but aren't all bond films.

My Favourite Bond Film

I reckon the best start to any film, let alone a Bond film. The fact that bond was away for a while and his shoes were filled with a new bond made things even better. The bungie jump, the theme tune, the Ferrari 355 what more could anyone ask for.

A terrifically confident debut for Brosnan as 007 finds him totally at ease with the role on his first try-out. Here, the new Bond has to deal with a new world order, particularly with regard to the former Soviet Union, and an old colleague who has turned rogue. All the traditional ingredients are here in spades - outrageous action sequences, notably a tank chase through the streets of St Petersburg, and Janssen having a whale of a time as a sexy villainess - cannily mixed up with some newer elements, the addition of Dench as M being particularly successful.
