Disney animation was still reckoned to be in the doldrums when this charming tale of animal friendship was produced, and it probably has a lower profile than it deserves. A young hound pup is befriended by a fox cub and the youngsters become firm chums. Once grown the hound warns his foxy friend to keep away from the hunt and his cruel master, but the fox proves his courage when he saves the hound from a marauding bear. Hound returns the favour when his wild friend is pursued by the pack in a family parable about the power of friendship. Voices include Mickey Rooney, Kurt Russell and Corey Feldman.

Halliwell's Film Guide
Not unpleasant but somewhat heavy-going for a feature cartoon, made with some of the old Disney style but none of the old inventiveness.
