Radio Times

Disney animation was still reckoned to be in the doldrums when this charming tale of animal friendship was produced, and it probably has a lower profile than it deserves. A young hound pup is befriended by a fox cub and the youngsters become firm chums. Once grown the hound warns his foxy friend to keep away from the hunt and his cruel master, but the fox proves his courage when he saves the hound from a marauding bear. Hound returns the favour when his wild friend is pursued by the pack in a family parable about the power of friendship. Voices include Mickey Rooney, Kurt Russell and Corey Feldman.

Halliwell's Film Guide

Not unpleasant but somewhat heavy-going for a feature cartoon, made with some of the old Disney style but none of the old inventiveness.

Why oh why don't they make them like this any more?

A Customer from somewhere in front of the TV, glued to watching this film yet again!, 17th July, 2004

Brilliant! I loved every minute of it! There's a real difference between modern Disney and this classic; this film is full of emotion. The characters are just so believable, lovable, and you can't help but get dragged into the story.

FOX AND THE HOUND!

A Customer from NEWCASTLE, 27th June, 2004

' The Fox & The Hound' is the usual Disney faire with something extra. made in the early 80's with 70's styled tunes. Todd is fox who is adopted by the old Miss Tweed. he then meets a hound dog named Copper who become best friends. but nature hasn't intended them that way. they grow uP{as Mickey Rooney & Kirt Russel}. this story of friendship, conflict and the way nature intends is a heart moving classic. oh, and ' Spirited Away' is acclaimed for having every frame done by hand. so is this Disney film.

This is an enchanting film about a friendship between a fox and a hound despite their two owners not seeing eye to eye. The fox, Tod is taken in as a baby by an elderly lady and looked after when his mother is shot. Copper, the hound is a puppy belonging to a grumpy old man. They meet up and become friends and spend a lot of time playing together. Won't say anymore because it would spoil the story but this is a film that kids from about 3 to 9 years of age would probably enjoy.

An underrated classic

Steve Davis from Farnham, 25th February, 2004

A classic Disney film that shows just how good the animation and stories were before CGI took over everthing.

Great story, great voices. Happy and sad. Suitable for all members of the family.
