The Best Doctor Who Story Ever!
A Customer from Guernsey, 29th May, 2006
The above quote is not just me but the story was voted best ever by readers of 'Doctor Who Magazine' and they should Know!! The story as you know is about the creation of the Daleks, The time lords see a time when they might become the dominant force in the universe and send the 'Doctor' back in time to either stop them ever being created or alter there design to give them a soul. To know the difference between right and wrong good or evil. The story is very clever and the 'Kaleds' the humans that the 'Daleks' will evole into are shown as neo nazis hell bent on winning the war at any cost. 'Davros' the evil Kaled Scientist creator of the Daleks will do anything to ensure his Daleks are used to win the war even at the expense of betraying his own race. The story is very dark with both sides in the conflict unable to end the war both sides only thinking of final victory. The Doctor has a stark choice he knows the evil that the 'Daleks' will do but he also knows they will unite planets who other wise would have be enemys. And can he stop a species being created even though he knows it to be evil? Can he play God? Tom Baker the best Doctor this the Best Story.

Great Episode
A Customer from Chester, UK, 4th March, 2006
This I think is one of the best episodes of Doctor Who ever made. This episode is where you find out who created the Daleks and where they came from. Still holds up after all this time as a great episode. Doctor's companions are Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan.

Forget the Hype of the New Series
Gary Hollingsbee from Tunbridge Wells, England, 24th April, 2006
Forget the hype of the current series of Doctor Who: this is the real deal. First aired in 1975 - that's over thirty years ago! - this six-part adventure pits the fourth Doctor (manic Tom Baker to you and I) against the creator of the daleks, Davros. The Doctor is sent to Skaros, the homeworld of the daleks, at the point of their creation with the mission of altering the daleks or destroying them. While this is going on, the programme presents a World War One-type war in the background. The whole dvd was a great romp and really cheered me up at the end of a dreadful head-cold. It reminded me of watching Doctor Who as a child... from behind a pile of cushions. Great stuff. You can't rent much better than this.

Not what I expected
William Clements from Reading, UK, 23rd September, 2008
I was really excited to rent this, remembering the days of K-9 and the latter Tom Baker days when I was in secondary school. But was really disappointed by it. I understand difficulties in special effects, but the acting... come on!! The story was okay, and was really the reason for the stars, nothing else! I think it would be cool to write up a similar expedition for our scottish friend, going back before the daleks to try and stop the point where his race was destroyed... I know the rules of the time war mean it probably isn't possible, but perhaps in a nearby universe where our timelines are disconnected... I don't know. I guess had I really been satisfied I wouldn't be rambling about how to fix it!!
Good story and a classic Doctor Who serial
lco1987 from from Newcastle/Leeds, 1st July, 2008
This one of the all time classics in the Doctor Who saga, where the Doctor is sent to the Dalek's home world of Skaro to destroy them before they are created. It is the first episode that we see the Dalek creator Davros and we see how they came about. If you love the new series and want to see some of the origins of Doctor Who then you should definitely watch this. If you haven't seen the oldies before you will need to get past how dated it is and low budget and just appreciate the story... and Tom Baker, because he's the man.
