Not what I expected
William Clements from Reading, UK, 23rd September, 2008
I was really excited to rent this, remembering the days of K-9 and the latter Tom Baker days when I was in secondary school. But was really disappointed by it. I understand difficulties in special effects, but the acting... come on!! The story was okay, and was really the reason for the stars, nothing else! I think it would be cool to write up a similar expedition for our scottish friend, going back before the daleks to try and stop the point where his race was destroyed... I know the rules of the time war mean it probably isn't possible, but perhaps in a nearby universe where our timelines are disconnected... I don't know. I guess had I really been satisfied I wouldn't be rambling about how to fix it!!
Good story and a classic Doctor Who serial
lco1987 from from Newcastle/Leeds, 1st July, 2008
This one of the all time classics in the Doctor Who saga, where the Doctor is sent to the Dalek's home world of Skaro to destroy them before they are created. It is the first episode that we see the Dalek creator Davros and we see how they came about. If you love the new series and want to see some of the origins of Doctor Who then you should definitely watch this. If you haven't seen the oldies before you will need to get past how dated it is and low budget and just appreciate the story... and Tom Baker, because he's the man.

Davros Dupes Doctor Drama
ThomMck from from Wellingborough, England, 6th May, 2008
With the upcoming possibility of Davros appearing in the new 4th series of Doctor Who, I thought I would educate my kids on who created the Daleks. Well it certainly didn't dissapoint us. Me and my wife did find the sets, acting and 'special' effects amusing but my boys were all enthralled and suitably terrified in all the right places ;-) It also fits in with the current story quite well, with the Doctor being pushed into deciding who should live and die. It was the first Tom Baker episode I've seen and he seems a fantastic Doctor (although the scarf does seem a bit impractical at times!) Disc 1 has the six episodes on it, Disc 2 is just extras and is not worth the rental so you might want to skip that one.
good

Have you ever wondered where the daleks ever came from well genisis of the daleks takes you there, from the doctors delema to kill them by going back in time to thiere home planet to how they became daleks. And yes they where wooden daleks in that time.2 waring factions on planet skaro are eventuall mutated over time by atomics, yes you,ve guessed it there is always trouble where the doctor is.i won,t spoil the plot, just watch it and enjoy
Tom Baker at his best!!
A Customer from England, 29th January, 2008
Tom baker was the doctor i grew up with, and its over 30 years since i saw this last, that said it was quite enjoyable to see him battling Davros, and the Daleks on their home Planet of Skaro. Ok, the special effects are not up to the standard of today, but never the less the storyline is a good one, and shows the doctor trying to prevent the daleks from ever being created, or try to alter their genetic make-up to make them less evil. My son who is 4 is doctor who mad and loves the Daleks so as you can imagine he loved this one too!! So go on relive your youth, watch Tom Baker at his best batteling Davros and his Daleks, you wont be dissapointed!!
accidental order

Tom Baker's got some fancy new jewellery.

This is probably the most memorable of the Doctor Who stories as the birth of the Daleks is retold, quite different from the original William Hartnell story about Skaro. How did Sarah Jane climb in those boots?
